|Urban Islands. Santo Domingo, Heredia. Costa Rica. 2010|
This was another personal photographic project with a biological inspiration. Biologists can see all sorts of ecosystem bits as islands, from continents (gigantic islands!) to tiny drops of water floating in the atmosphere. One day my wife joined me to find small islands of vegetation in the sea of concrete of a small tropical city, Santo Domingo de Heredia in central Costa Rica. Each one of these "islands" has its own beauty and thousands of microscopic species living inside.
